Kathleen Sloan
Los Angeles based violinist, Kathleen Sloan, is a member of the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, the Sonus Quartet as well as session musician in the film score and recording industries. She has recorded on hundreds of film scores from the likes of John William's Star Wars to Randy Newman's Cars, as well as record dates with Sir Paul McCartney, Madonna, and Beyonce to name a few. Sloan has soloed with the San Francisco Symphony, the Dallas Symphony, the Nashville Symphony and the San Diego Symphony in aerial performances of the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto with Cirque Musica. Tours throughout America, Europe, Asia and Australia, include artists such as Josh Groban, Gnarls Barkley, and Clint Mansell.A member of the Santa Barbara Chamber Orchestra as well as regular sub with the Los Angeles Opera, Sloan grew up in a West Texas ranching family and began violin studies at the age of three. She later studied with Emanuel Borok, Concertmaster of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. At age 15, Sloan was accepted into the Cleveland Institute of Music's Young Artist Program as a student of David Cerone where she studied for 4 years. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Southern California in 2002 under the tutelage of Martin Chalifour, Concertmaster of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Sloan was a member of the Houston Grand Opera and Houston Ballet for 6 years as well as Concertmaster of the Abilene Philharmonic. She now lives in Los Angeles with her husband, David Steele, former guitarist for Steve Earle and John Prine. Together, they enjoy restoring vintage cars and homes.
